Equity in Science: Representation, Culture, and the Dynamics of Change in Graduate Education

In her book, Equity in Science: Representation, Culture, and the Dynamics of Change in Graduate Education, Julie Posselt provides case studies of diversity, equity, and inclusion work in different STEM fields, including an Applied Physics department that was intentionally designed for inclusivity from the very beginning and two different styles of approaches to diversity, equity and inclusion within the American Astronomical Society and the American Physical Society. Her work provides real-world examples of efforts to make change, how they were initiated and what impact they have had. She uses the case studies to highlight cross-cutting themes and provide recommendations for those wishing to make change within their own institutions. Ashley Huderson provides a detailed review of the book in Science Magazine’s blog.
