About Dara

Dr. Dara Norman is a Full Scientist and Deputy Director of the Community Science and Data Center at the NSF’s National Optical and Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory (NOIRLab) in Tucson, AZ. Her research interests include Active Galactic Nuclei – their influence on galaxy evolution and how the large-scale structure environment might contribute to their triggering and evolution. She has also been active in creating and advancing opportunities to bring more under-represented minorities and women into the “astronomy enterprise”, which includes research science, engineering, data science and instrument building. Dr. Norman holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Astronomy from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science from the Mass. Inst. of Technology.
