About Jessica

Jessica is a Master of Science candidate in Astrophysics at San Francisco State University (SFSU), studying under Dr. Charli Sakari of the R-Process Alliance. Jessica is analyzing the spectrum of Milky Way halo stars to determine their chemical composition, with the ultimate goal of better understanding the formation sites of r-process elements and the assembly history of the MW. Originally from New Orleans, Jessica’s undergraduate studies began at Loyola University in Communications and completed at St. John’s University in TV/Film.

Jessica is a founding member of Astronomers for Planet Earth (A4E), an international volunteer network of astronomers, astronomy students, and astronomy educators working on climate issues. The work Jessica has done with A4E includes logo design, video production, conference/event planning, and public presentations. At SFSU, Jessica is currently on the events committee for Climate HQ and serves on the AAS Sustainability Committee.
