About Kathryn
I’m a dynamicist, interested in the nature of orbits in galaxies, as well as galactic structure, formation and evolution. My research focuses on the Milky Way. I am faculty at Columbia University as well as Group Leader in Dynamics at the Center for Computational Astrophysics which is part of the Flatiron Institute in New York. My experiences over the years have lead me to be increasingly interested in issues of diversity and inclusion in academia – so my research has expanded to include the dynamics of people as well as Astronomical objects. I currently Chair the Committee of Equity and Diversity in the School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia.
